We disclose relationships that a reasonable reader might want to know about when evaluating our work.
Funding relationship. The Utah Plum is a fiscally sponsored project of the All In For Utah Foundation, a 501(c)(3) public charity, which also provided our founding grant. Under our grant agreement, the All In For Utah Foundation has no right to review, approve, or influence any content we publish. The All In For Utah Foundation is a separate organization from any similarly named advocacy group, and The Utah Plum has no relationship with any 501(c)(4) organization or political action committee.
Leadership. Our founder and CEO, Nick Huey, also owns DataBriefs, a data consulting company. DataBriefs has no role in The Utah Plum’s journalism.
Board. Our directors follow a conflict of interest policy requiring disclosure of any personal or financial interest in matters before the board and recusal from related votes. Directors and staff do not hold office in, or make contributions on behalf of The Utah Plum to, political parties, candidates, or campaigns.
When we report on an organization with which we have any of the relationships above, we disclose it in the story.
